Talking to Our Kids About Money
My conversation with Author, Podcaster, and Motivational Mentor, Danny Kofke
Danny Kofke worked as a school teacher for 18 years; he has written several personal finance books, including A Bright Financial Future: Teaching Kids about Money Pre-K Through College for Lifelong Success. Danny has appeared on numerous national television shows, including Fox & Friends, CNN's Newsroom, The 700 Club, and MSNBC Live. Danny has been interviewed on over 600 radio shows and featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Huff Post, and Money Magazine. Danny is one of my colleagues at Mentoro, where he serves as a Motivational Mentor.
In our conversation, Danny shares his views on:
How to lead young people to be better money managers and achieve financial success, and how social media can make that harder.
How to help young people understand the value of work, budgeting, and long-term goals, and how your actions as a parent speak louder than words.
Whether teens can truly understand the impact of student loans and how to have conversations about debt.
Whether teens and college students should have credit cards.
And much more…

Danny mentioned that, unlike when he and I were in college, students today need to be much more clear about their major and future career plans, and at a much younger age. If your student is unsure of their path, check out the fantastic programs offered by Flourish Coaching. Having college major and career clarity will not only help with college admissions, but it’s a key part of scholarship success. Click this link to learn more.
The June 15th and June 22nd editions of Your Daily Scholarship featured interviews with two of my Class of 2024 Scholarship Coaching students who won multiple scholarships.
This past week, BOTH of those students sent me more scholarship applications for review. Rather than resting on their laurels, Isabella and Talon were able to take essays that had already won them scholarships and make slight adjustments to apply for more scholarships this week. They put in the work early - during their junior year and the first part of their senior year, and reaped the benefits this past spring with multiple scholarship wins.
This level of determination, combined with a strategy and the right tools, is why Isabella and Talon had scholarship success.
Scholarship GPS is my new online, on-demand, video-based course where I share my insights on how to find and earn scholarships - the same methodology I used to coach Isabella and Talon to their multiple scholarship wins. Scholarship GPS is not just a course; it's a valuable investment in your student's future.
As a Your Daily Scholarship subscriber, you can get access to Scholarship GPS before the general public.
It's important to note that the course is a work in progress. While there are still lessons to be added, over 30 lessons are already uploaded and ready for viewing. This allows you to hit the ground running while new lessons are being prepared and added regularly.
